Place crochet symbols in the chart to enable a legend.
Snapping starts off. All settings can be changed later.
An editable project file with all objects and repeats. Your browser saves it to Downloads, or asks you where to save it.
Autosaved on this device, in this browser only. Use Save project for a file you can keep or move.
Draw includes a Smoothing slider for new strokes: higher values soften hand wobble; Off keeps the original input. Shapes includes Rectangle, Triangle, Polygon, Star, Heart and Arc. Polygon Sides and Star Points can be set from 3–2,048 before drawing or on a selected object. Polygon, Star and Triangle are Regular by default, keeping their true proportions while drawing and resizing. Enable Regular on an older stretched shape to correct it, or switch it off to stretch deliberately. Choose a symbol, then click or tap to place it; Escape returns to Select. Text and arrows start with one instance. Text offers five bundled free fonts; exports keep the chosen lettering.
Position and size controls provide exact dimensions and rotation. Reshape exposes editable curve points. On phones, appearance and size are together under Edit.
Regular keeps the shape symmetrical. Polygons and triangles have equal sides and angles. A star has evenly spaced points of equal length.
Drawing, resize handles and width or height fields keep these proportions. Changing the width also changes the height, and vice versa.
Switch Regular off to stretch the shape freely. Switching it on corrects a stretched shape; Undo restores its previous appearance.
Drag from empty space to select anything touched by the rectangle. Shift-click toggles selection; on touch screens use Add selection.
To reach overlapping objects, Alt-click or right-click the spot. On touch screens, press and hold without dragging. Objects here lists the choices from front to back. Groups stay together until you enter them; repeated instances show their copy number. All copies / This copy keeps its current setting. Escape closes the chooser.
Edit group opens its contents. The breadcrumb returns to the chart. Rename a selected object or group in Objects; search applies inside the current group.
All copies edits the shared source. This copy edits the appearance and position of the selected instances. Existing exceptions are preserved.
Copy counts and group structure always affect the whole repeat. Reset restores selected copies to their source. Grouping preserves child repeats and gives the new group one instance.
File → New project → Lines or Square grid starts with single objects. Arrange objects, select them, then choose Make row. Switch on Snap beside grid spacing when you want regular alignment.
Next row creates an independent row above, using Next row gap. Duplicate makes a nearby copy. Edit row to work inside it; new objects there start with one instance.
Search covers all symbols. Pin favourites with the star; Extra includes extended and linked variants. Symbol names use US terminology.
Extra includes our own proposed symbols. Symbols → Add legend inserts editable names for the crochet symbols used in the chart; check those descriptions before sharing a chart.
Pan and Orbit change the view. Wheel zoom stays centred; two fingers pan and zoom. Re-center restores the chart origin. Fit frames all artwork.
The zoom percentage is editable from 1–800%. Rotation snap affects Orbit only. Grid spacing uses drawing units; guides do not appear in exports.
Snap beside Undo/Redo stays available while drawing, even with the panel hidden. Its on/off state matches Snap in View, where you choose the guide style. Turning Snap on with guides hidden shows the current guides. Lines align vertically; Squares align both axes. Circle snaps to rings and Polygon to edges. Both use ring/spoke intersections. Spokes and Ring spacing control the grid independently of object copies. Zooming may skip crowded guide lines without changing the saved spacing. Hiding guides pauses snapping.
Placed symbols and labels snap from their centres; drawing shapes snaps their corners or line ends. Moving a group keeps its spacing. Hold Alt, or switch snapping off, to place freely. Number fields, arrow keys and freehand drawing stay precise and free.
Undo and Redo tooltips describe the next action. After using either button, the status bar confirms what changed.
V Select · B Draw · L Line · E Ellipse · P Petal · D Diamond · T Text · H Pan · R Orbit. Space + drag pans. 0 fits the artwork.
Ctrl/⌘ + Z Undo; Shift + Z Redo; S Save project; O Open project; G Group; Shift + G Ungroup. Arrows move the selection; Delete removes it; Escape cancels.
Save project writes an editable .croart file to your device. Save project as lets you choose a name. Open project reads .croart, .kaleido and JSON files. Projects in this browser shows artwork thumbnails for local autosaves, with search, Open and Delete controls. Deleting a browser project does not delete downloaded files.
Download all projects makes one ZIP backup of every browser project and any recovery files, including entries outside the current search. To restore, unzip it, then use Open project for each .croart file in the projects folder. Keep recovery files even if they do not open normally.
Autosaves are stored only in this browser on this device. If another tab edits or deletes the same project, your changes become a separate project. Export creates a previewed SVG or PNG with its own crop and background.
Each repeat can have up to 2,048 copies. A chart can contain 600 source objects and 30,000 rendered instances, including copies inside repeated groups.
Changes beyond these limits are cancelled. Objects marked with * have individual adjustments; reducing copies preserves those adjustments if you increase the count again.
